JEWELRY CARE FAQ'S:
HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY JEWELRY?
Please take a look at our "Product Care" page below for tips on how to care for your SEVENTH GODDESS JEWELRY DESIGN™ metal pieces.
COPPER:
As you wear your Copper jewelry piece, it will lose its luster over time and become tarnished. No matter how you try to keep it shiny, it will still darken naturally. Some people like this rich, organic type of look, some prefer the bright shiny appearance. How you clean your copper jewelry depends on whether it has been lacquered or not. How will you know if it has a sealer on it? If your pieces are lacquered, it will not tarnish as easily as non-lacquered copper jewelry does during ordinary wear, it will instead become less shiny as the lacquer/sealer wears away. We recommend that you simply use a soft cloth to wipe away any dirt or oil that has accumulated on pieces that have a coating.
The natural oils from your skin can change/alter the color of your copper jewelry and become discolored in areas where it touches your flesh. The copper metal will itself turn most skin a greenish tone when worn. Copper turns green because of copper carbonate, a moisture-sensitive chemical compound. Copper metal reacts with oxygen, resulting in the formulation of an outer layer of copper oxide. The green color isn't harmful but if you are concerned about either of these issues, you can apply clear/colorless commercial laquer or nail polish on the underside of the piece(s) periodically (the polish will eventually wear off with wear).
CLEAN YOUR COPPER JEWELRY:
Important Note:
Avoid applying lemon juice, or any other acidic cleaning substances to pearls or gemstones in/on your jewelry, because they may get damaged!
You can keep your pure copper jewelry shiny and clean by occasionally washing it with lukewarm, soapy water like regular dishwashing liquid. Rub gently with an old toothbrush or old soft cloth. Afterward, dry the piece off and polish with a soft non-abrasive cloth. You may also use a soft cloth (like T-Shirt material) to gently polish your piece(s) using a commercial polish.
Or: Use a bit of Lemon Juice to get that sparkling new shine back.
Lemon Juice or a Lemon:
If you don't have a lemon on hand to cut in half and rub the jewelry with, you can pour bottled lemon juice directly on the piece(s) or pour in a cup or a bowl and you can also add a bit of salt to the liquid. Dip your piece of jewelry in the juice and leave it there for 2-8 minutes. You can also scrub the piece gently with a cloth or toothbrush. Rinse the piece with water and dry it with a soft cloth.
Cleaning Paste:
You can buy many different commercial retail brands of jewelry cleaning paste, check to confirm that it is safe to use on copper (or whatever type of metal that your jewelry is made out of), or you can make a cleaning paste yourself.
* Combine equal parts of lemon juice and baking soda to make a cleaning paste. Use the paste to clean the bracelet by rubbing it gently with a soft old clean cloth, an old soft bristle toothbrush or your own fingers. After the jewelry is satisfactorily clean, rinse it well and dry with a soft cloth.
Note:
We recommended that you use a glass or ceramic container to soak your jewelry for the allotted period of time. DO NOT leave jewelry in the solution for extended periods over the advised time-frame. Metal containers are NOT recommended.
Commercial Jewelry Cleaner:
If your copper jewelry has heavy dark tarnish, you can try to lighten it by using a commercial cleaner prepared specifically for copper jewelry. Make sure that you follow the instructions on the package.
Polish Your Jewelry:
You can also polish your jewelry with a "Jewelry Polishing Cloth." It is best to use a polishing cloth specifically made for copper.
To Store Your Jewelry:
Keep your metal jewelry dry and free of oils. After each wearing, rinse or wipe the piece(s) off with a soft cloth. Don’t forget to dry your jewelry well before storing it. Store the piece(s) away from humidity, which can cause it to tarnish. Put your copper jewelry in an airtight jewelry box, if you have one.
As an alternative, you can place your jewelry in a well-sealed plastic baggie. You can also use anti-tarnish paper.
** Do not wear your copper jewelry in the hot tub, in saltwater, the swimming pool or in the bath, the water may contain chemicals that could possibly damage the surface of your pieces.

Brass just like copper metal will naturally darken with time. The metal can be cleaned and cared-for in the same method as copper.
By creating and using a mixture of 3 tablespoons of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of salt. You will get a shiny brass piece of jewelry instead of the rustic-looking brass one. A Q-tip/swab can be used to apply the cleaning solution to specific areas of the darkened metal instead of submerging the entire piece. Rinse off all cleaning mixture residue, then thoroughly dry each piece with another clean soft cloth.
Store individually in a resealable plastic baggie to help eliminate contact with other elements including the air, saltwater other objects or pieces of jewelry that may cause the metal to turn/tarnish faster.

STAINLESS STEEL:
Stainless Steel can become dull and lose it's luster over time if scratched. Restoring it back to it's silvery sheen can be easily done. Clean your stainless steel jewelry with a mild detergent soap and warm water when it's dull and dirty. Clean off any grime and pollutants and grime on the surface. Soak the piece(s) in a bowl containing the solution and let sit for a five to ten minutes. Then rinse and take a clean soft cloth and rub the piece(s). If there are carved grooves or engraved designs on the surface, you can use a soft-bristled toothbrush that will reach any hard to get areas. Thoroughly dry each piece with another clean soft cloth to remove any dampness or water spots.
Avoid chemicals like chlorine and bleach which can damage the surface of stainless steel jewelry. Always remove any type of jewelry before swimming in chlorinated pools, hot tubs, exercising, bathing in a tub or showering.
Do Not store your stainless steel jewelry with other pieces of jewelry or sharp or rough objects because this could easily scratch your piece(s). Store each piece of your jewelry separately in a a resealable plastic baggie, fabric-lined box or a felt or cloth pouch.
